Poster / Motion

This is a series of three motion posters for three upcoming cultural events in New York City: “ASUNA: 100 Keyboards” at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and “Mark Rothko: Sound Bath Meditation” and “Agnes Martin: Music for Healing” at Pace Gallery.

The challenge was to develop a strong visual connection between these very different events. From left to right:

Experimental Japanese sound artist ASUNA invites guests to experience a live performance featuring over 100 keyboards. To capture the feeling of the space, I created a moiré pattern that visually represents sound interference — multiple sound waves traveling at the same frequency, moving in different directions. This complex visual interference mirrors the layered beats, loops, and hidden sounds that guests discover in the room.

The Mark Rothko: Sound Bath Meditation exhibition invites visitors to truly be inside Rothko’s work — closing their eyes, tuning out the world, and experiencing pure emotion. Drawing from this idea, I created a serene, meditative landscape using color palettes and soft visual elements from Rothko’s paintings, capturing the feeling of being both absorbed and reflective at the same time.

Agnes Martin once said, “It’s not about facts, it’s about feelings. It’s about remembering feelings and happiness. A definition of art is that it makes concrete our most subtle emotions. I think the highest form of art is music. It’s the most abstract of all art expressions.”
Inspired by her words, I used vibrant color chips drawn from Martin’s paintings to build a rhythmic, emotional abstraction — almost like a visual piece of music — to reflect the spirit of Music for Healing at Pace Gallery.
